    <title>How E-Clutch Works</title>
    <link>https://www.bellevuemotors.com/news/how-e-clutch-works</link>
<description>Part of the Honda DreamTech rider-focused innovations, E-Clutch is the evolution of manual transmission engineered so every ride feels instinctive, effortless and built for pure enjoyment.

What began with the CB650R and CBR650R now drives the CB750 Hornet, XL750 Transalp and the 500 range into the next generation.

Honda E-Clutch works with Throttle By Wire (TBW) on the 750&#039;s for even smoother, more intuitive shifting.

And with E-Clutch now available on the CB500 Hornet, CBR500R and NX500, A2 riders get to experience next-level control too.

How E-Clutch works
E-Clutch keeps the feel of a manual gearbox but manages the clutch for you. An actuator inside the engine cover coordinates clutch operation, fuel-cut and ignition timing for fast, smooth, shock-free shifts.

Prefer manual clutch? Use it any time. E-Clutch pauses while you take control and reactivates automatically, or can be turned off entirely via the TFT.

On the CB750 Hornet and XL750 Transalp, E-Clutch links with TBW and riding modes, adding extra smoothness and stability especially when starting, cornering or riding over rough surfaces.

    <title>Honda V3R 900E Compressor Prototype</title>
    <link>https://www.bellevuemotors.com/news/honda-v3r-900e-compressor-prototype</link>
    <description>
V3R 900E Compressor Prototype

A slim and compact engine design was pursued with the displacement of 900cc based on the exact layout of the water-cooled 75-degree V3 engine, which Honda unveiled last year as a concept model at the EICMA 2024. Equipped with the worlds first* electronically-controlled compressor for motorcycles, the engine delivers highly responsive torque even from low rpm range, by controlling compression of the intake air irrespective of engine rpm. Taking advantage of this feature, Honda is striving to develop a 900cc engine that achieves the overwhelming performance comparable to that of a 1200cc engine, while also contributing to excellent environmental performance. The prototype itself has been developed under the concept of Non-rail Rollercoaster, signifying Hondas intention of creating a model with the dual characteristics ofguaranteed thrill and reassuring peace of mind. The body features asymmetrical side fairings, while the tank emblem debuts the new Honda Flagship Wing design. Honda is developing the V3R 900 E-Compressor Prototype as a model that will represent a new milestone in the ongoing challenges undertaken by Honda and will enable customers to experience the unprecedented fun and excitement of riding and the joy of ownership.

<title>Could a Honda PCX125 scooter be greener than an electric car</title>
    <link>https://www.bellevuemotors.com/news/could-a-honda-pcx125-scooter-be-greener-than-an-electric-car</link>
<description>Is a Honda PCX125 scooter is greener than an electric car ?

Electric cars are often touted as a solution to the climate crisis, but they are not without their drawbacks. Electric cars still require a lot of energy and resources to produce and operate, and they may not be as clean as they seem. In this article, we will compare the environmental impact of an electric car with that of a Honda PCX125 scooter, a popular model of petrol powered scooter.

Emissions

One of the main advantages of electric cars is that they do not emit tailpipe emissions, such as carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and particulate matter (PM). These emissions contribute to global warming, air pollution, and health problems. However, electric cars are not zero-emission vehicles, as they still rely on electricity from the grid, which may come from fossil fuels. According to a study by the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT), the average CO2 emissions of an electric car in Europe in 2020 were 66 grams per kilometer (g/km), compared with 122 g/km for a petrolcar1. However, this figure varies depending on the country and the source of electricity. For example, in Poland, where most electricity comes from coal, an electric car emits about 206 g/km of CO21.

On the other hand, a Honda PCX125 scooter emits only 47 g/km of CO22, which is lower than both an electric car and a petrolcar. Moreover, the Honda PCX125 scooter has a low-emission engine that meets the Euro 5 standard, which means it has reduced levels of NOx and PM2. Therefore, in terms of emissions, a Honda PCX125 scooter is greener than an electric car.

Energy efficiency

Another factor to consider is the energy efficiency of the vehicles, which measures how much energy is converted into useful work. Electric cars have an advantage over petrolcars in this aspect, as they have more efficient motors that waste less energy as heat and noise. According to the US Department of Energy, electric cars have an average efficiency of 77 percent3, while petrolcars have an average efficiency of 16 percent3.

However, a Honda PCX125 scooter also has a high efficiency rating, thanks to its innovative features such as the Enhanced Smart Power (eSP) system, which reduces friction and improves combustion; the Idle Stop system, which automatically stops the engine when idle; and the Smart Key system, which optimizes battery usage4. According to Honda, these features can improve fuel economy by up to 14 percent4. The Honda PCX125 scooter has an average fuel consumption of 2.1 liters per 100 km4, which translates to an efficiency of about 45 percent5. Therefore, in terms of energy efficiency, a Honda PCX125 scooter is comparable to an electric car.

Resource consumption

A third aspect to consider is the resource consumption of the vehicles, which includes the materials and energy used for their production and operation. Electric cars have a higher environmental impact than petrolcars in this aspect, as they require more rare metals and minerals for their batteries and motors. For example, lithium is a key component of lithium-ion batteries used in electric cars, but its extraction and processing can cause water shortages, land grabs, and ecosystem destruction in countries such as Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, and China6. According to a report by Greenpeace UK, the USs transition to electric vehicles could require three times as much lithium as is currently produced for the entire global market6.

On the other hand, a Honda PCX125 scooter has a lower resource consumption than an electric car, as it does not require any batteries or rare metals. It also has a smaller size and weight than an electric car, which means it uses less materials and energy for its production and operation. According to Hondas Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) report for 2019, the total environmental impact of a Honda PCX125 scooter over its life cycle was 3.8 tons of CO2 equivalent (CO2e), while that of a Honda Clarity Electric car was 18.9 tons of CO2e. Therefore, in terms of resource consumption, a Honda PCX125 scooter is greener than an electric car.

Conclusion

In conclusion, we have seen that a Honda PCX125 scooter has several advantages over an electric car in terms of emissions, energy efficiency, and resource consumption. While electric cars are still better than petrolcars for the environment, they are not perfect, and they may not be suitable for everyone.

A Honda PCX125 scooter, on the other hand, is a more affordable, convenient, and eco-friendly option for urban mobility. Therefore, we can say that a Honda PCX125 scooter is greener than an electric car.

<title>Honda update popular Africa Twin adventure range with new looks and revised tech</title>
    <link>https://www.bellevuemotors.com/news/2024-honda-crf1100-africa-twin</link>
    <description>2024 Honda CRF1100 Africa Twin

More performance, increased practicality, and new looks for the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin and CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports.

Belle Vue Honda Motorcycles&#039; best-selling adventure bike duo the CRF1100L Africa Twin and more road-biased, touring Africa Twin Adventure Sports are both receiving a significant makeover for 2024.

Both get an extensively redesigned front fairing which now includes a five-way adjustable screen plus engine tweaks which boost peak torque by a claimed 7%. Both will also be compatible with Hondas Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) semi-automatic transmission system.

The Adventure Sport also goes from a 21in to 19in front wheel with shorter suspension travel and is only available in DCT form, while the more off-road Africa Twin now also gets the option of Showas EERA electronic suspension.

Originally launched as the single CRF1000L Africa Twin in 2015, the first upgrade came in 2018 when the Adventure Sport variant, with an enlarged 24 litre tank and more rugged, off-road looks was added.

That appeal increased further in 2020 when both grew to 1100cc boosting power from a claimed 94 to 100bhp. There was also a new TFT dash, and improved electronics, and the duos roles were revised slightly with the standard Twin becoming the more off-road orientated bike and the AS the road-biased tourer.

Back to the present day, the new aggressively designed front fairing is intended to make long-range road riding more comfortable and features a new, larger, five-way adjustable screen made out of environmentally friendly materials.

The engine remains 1084cc with a peak power of 100bhp but has more power and torque in the low and middle ranges. Peak torque is 7% higher, at 83lb.ft, and delivered earlier, at 5500rpm instead of 6250rpm. This comes via higher compression (from 10.1:1 to 10.5:1), changes to the valve timing, intake ports, and ECU settings, plus a new exhaust.

The more touring-orientated Adventure Sports, which in 2022 accounted for 56% of European Africa Twin sales, gets even more long distance, on-road appeal.

Theres a smaller 19in front wheel (from 21in), wider front tyre, and 20mm shorter suspension stroke from its standard EERA suspension to improve manageability and road handling. Theres also a new seat with 15mm thicker cushion.

The standard, more off-road Africa Twin, meanwhile, now has the option of the EERA system.

Interesting Facts:

More power and torque in the low and mid rev range with max torque increased by 7%, delivered earlier in the rev range.

CRF1100L Africa Twin now available with optional Showa EERA suspension

The balance of CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports performance becomes more weightedon-road with the addition of a 19-inch front wheel and shorter suspension travel.

Both models feature an extensive front fairing redesign and a 5-stage DUARABIO height adjustable screens

    <title>Debuting the 2024 New Honda NT1100</title>
    <link>https://www.bellevuemotors.com/news/debuting-the-2024-new-honda-nt1100</link>
    <description>Introducing the 2024 Honda NT1100

Debuting for 22YM and taking the heart of the CRF1100L Africa Twin as a starting point, the NT1100 is a new breed of Honda tourer that offers comfortable, agile, enjoyable performance. A low seat height and sharp steering geometry combine with a high-specification suspension to create a sporting package. 5-way height and angle adjustable screen and upper/lower wind deflectors ensure high-speed aero efficiency and outstanding weather protection; cruise control is standard, as are slim panniers and heated grips. Rider aids include 3 default riding modes, 2 USER custom options, Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), and Wheelie Control. Radial-mount four-piston front callipers provide the braking power, 120/70-17 and 180/55-17 front and rear tyres the grip. A 6.5-inch TFT touchscreen rounds out a premium specification and features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

For 24YM the NT1100 will be available in two new striking colour options Matt Jeans Blue Metallic and Candy Chromosphere Red.

Contents:

1 Introduction

2 Model overview

3 Key features

4 Accessories

1. Introduction

In a motorcycling landscape full of adventure-styled bikes many riders desire performance, handling, long range comfort, and technology but not necessarily the image or physical dimensions of adventure. In other words, what they want is a straightforward touring machine, but one with a rich specification list and a sporty edge to its performance the sort of bike that deals with the weekday commute efficiently and usefully and is also ready for an extended tour, fully loaded.

The NT1100 is precisely that bike. Introduced in 2022 its designed to draw those with a long memory of similar Honda machines of the past, but also attract a much younger rider. Employing the frame and characterful twin-cylinder engine of the CRF1100L Africa Twin as a base, engaging performance is assured. But the NT1100 is also packed with features and technology that build and broaden any motorcycles appeal.

With this combination of performance and rich specification, its no surprise that the NT1100 was Europes most popular Touring bike for the last two years, with nearly 12,000 models sold since its introduction.

For 24YM, two new striking paint options further add to its wide-ranging appeal.

2. Model Overview

Comfortable, agile, and enjoyable. The NT1100 in a nutshell. Sleek, subtle styling delivers efficient aerodynamic performance with a riding position tailored for touring. Screen height and angle are 5-way adjustable and upper and lower wind deflectors also work to protect the rider. A 6.5-inch TFT touch screen provides full colour, and customisable displays and offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Cruise control, heated grips and sizable integrated panniers are standard equipment. A centre stand is also a standard fit.

The NT1100s steel semi-double cradle frame employs a relatively short wheelbase and sharp steering geometry while suspension is via 43mm Showa cartridge-type inverted front forks and single-tube rear shock. The rear spring preload adjusts hydraulically. Dual 310mm front discs are paired with 4-piston radial-mount callipers, tyres are sized 120/70-17 front and 180/55-17 rear.

It also features full-fat performance from the twin-cylinder engine (inherited from the Africa Twin) but with intake and exhaust tuned for super-smooth acceleration and a pleasing low-rpm sound. The performance does not come to the detriment of fuel economy: the engines efficiency allows a 400km range from the 20L fuel tank.

The electronic package includes 3-level Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), Wheelie Control, full LED lights, self-cancelling indicators and Emergency Stop Signals. And, finding a natural home in the NT11000, Hondas six-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) is an option.

For 24YM, the NT1100 will be available in the following colour options:

**NEW** Matt Jeans Blue Metallic with Matt Ballistic Black Metallic rear carrier

**NEW** Candy Chromosphere Red with Matt Ballistic Black Metallic rear carrier

Matt Iridium Gray Metallic with **NEW** Matt Ballistic Black Metallic rear carrier

3. Key Features

3.1 Styling &amp; Equipment

Sleek styling offers excellent aerodynamic performance

5-stage screen height and angle adjustment plus upper/lower wind deflectors

Panniers standard equipment, as are heated grips and cruise control

6.5-inch TFT touch screen includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth connectivity

USB socket, centre stand and ACC socket as standard

The NT1100 has been designed, from the outset, as a sporting, agile bike but one thats also enjoyable to ride all day with efficient, protective aerodynamics and easy-going ergonomics centred around rider comfort.

Styling is subtly sophisticated with straightforward surfaces that emphasise key character lines. Dynamic elegance front to back are the defining features of the design language of the NT1100. And of course, this motorcycles sleek form is also about function aimed to elevate the quality of the riding experience.

Fitted as standard, upper and lower deflectors provide wind and weather protection around arms and lower body. The screen offers a 5-stage adjustment for height and angle through a total of 164mm between the high/low position. Set low, it sends air around the shoulders; set high it moves air over the riders helmet. Heated grips are standard equipment, as is cruise control.

The rider integrates into the machine neatly, enveloped by the protection offered by the fairing. A wide, thick seat material offers a luxurious expanse for two; the seat height is set at 820mm. A large grab rail for the passenger extends from the rear rack.

The exhaust muffler too is set low to maximise pannier volume. And its the standard-fit, detachable panniers that are one of the NT1100s key features. Deliberately designed to be as slim as possible for around-town riding they are just 901mm across at their widest point. Pannier volume is at 33L left and 32L right.

Bright and easy to read, the 6.5-inch TFT touchscreen offers 3 choices of screen display; GOLD shows all numeric and mode information. SILVER centres on the speedometer and rev-counter, BRONZE on the rev-counter. The background colour has a default setting plus the choice of black or white. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth connectivity allows access to smartphone functions via the TFT display.

The premium specification is rounded out by full LED lights with Daytime Running Lights (DRL) self cancelling indicators and Emergency Stop Signals; practicality is further elevated by USB socket, centre stand and ACC socket as standard.

Chassis

CRF1100L steel semi-double cradle frame and bolt-on aluminium subframe

Sharp steering geometry and high spec suspension front and rear.

Showa 43mm inverted front forks and rear shock with hydraulic preload adjustment.

Dual 310mm front discs and 4-piston radial-mount calipers.

The NT1100s underpinnings are well-proven and tough the Africa Twin CRF1100Ls steel semi double cradle frame and bolt-on aluminium subframe. To suit the all-round, sporting purpose of the NT1100, the off road ready suspension of its sibling has been replaced by road-focused equipment matched to sharper steering geometry.

The 43mm Showa cartridge-type inverted front forks feature 150mm travel and are preload adjustable. Like the forks, the single-tube pressurised Showa rear shock offers 150mm axle travel; it uses a 14mm diameter rod. To make carrying a pillion and/or luggage easier spring preload adjusts hydraulically, and remotely.

The wheels are aluminium, fine die-cast with a sand core allowing a hollow hub centre for the front. An intersecting spoke design (with the spokes attaching to the rim diagonally) offers several benefits: it smooths road vibration in a straight line and offers high rigidity for cornering. Tyres are sized 120/70-17 front and 180/55-17 rear.

Wheelbase is set at 1535mm, with rake and trail of 26.5/108mm and 175mm ground clearance. Kerb weight for the NT1100 with manual transmission is 238kg, and 248kg with DCT.

Dual 310mm front discs are squeezed by lightweight, 4-piston radial-mount calipers. The rear 256mm disc uses a 1-piston caliper. All braking is ABS-controlled.

Engine

 1,084cc SOHC 8-valve parallel twin-cylinder engine

Power and torque output of 75kW/104Nm

Intake and exhaust tuned to deliver smooth, powerful acceleration and pleasing low rpm throb

The 1,084cc SOHC 8-valve parallel twin-cylinder engine is the well-proven unit from the CRF1100L Africa Twin, with peak power of 75kW @ 7,250rpm and 104Nm @ 6,250rpm peak torque. The compression ratio is identical at 10.1:1. Another shared feature is the 270 phased crankshaft and uneven firing interval.

Throttle By Wire (TBW) provides engine management and PGM-FI feeds the throttle bodies. Where the engine tune differs from the Africa Twin and immediately noticeable to the rider are the optimisation of both air intake duct length and muffler internals to produce a pleasing, low-rpm throb and smooth, powerful acceleration married to relaxed highway cruising perfect for the wide ranging duties the NT1100 is built for.

The crankcases are split horizontally, and the water pump is housed within the clutch casing with a thermostat integrated into the cylinder head. Manual and DCT versions of the engine share common crankcases with only minor external differences. Secondary vibrations are neutralised by the mutually reciprocating motion of the pistons, while primary inertial and coupling vibrations are cancelled using biaxial balance shafts. The water and oil pumps are driven by the balancer shafts.

A crank pulsar with relator teeth spaced at 10 intervals manages misfire detection, important for OBD2/EURO5 compliance. In addition, Linear Air Flow (LAF) sensors in the downpipes give accurate measurements of the air/fuel mixture ratio.

Engine Electronics

3 default riding modes to choose from, plus two customisable USER modes

 3-level Honda Selectable Torque Control

 3-level Wheelie Control

TBW manages engine performance and character, plus Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) and Wheelie Control. There are 3 pre-set modes for the rider to choose covering a wide variety of riding conditions and 3 levels of management for Power and Engine Braking, with level 1 delivering the maximum of either parameter. For HSTC and Wheelie Control level 3 provides the highest intervention.

Mode selection is managed from the left-hand switchgear; an indicator in the instrument display activates when HSTC is working.

URBAN is standard and offers an all-round middle setting of engine power and engine braking.

RAIN reduces engine power and engine braking for extra reassurance on wet or slippery surfaces.

TOUR gives full engine power and standard engine braking, for strong acceleration while carrying a pillion and luggage.

USER 1 and 2 modes offer the ability to customise between the settings for the preferred combination. Once set, the USER setting is automatically stored so theres no need to re-set each time the ignition is turned on.

Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT)

DCT offers choice of Automatic (AT) or Manual Transmission (MT)

3 levels of S mode for wide-ranging sporty AT shifting performance

Honda has sold over 240,000 DCT-equipped motorcycles across Europe since the system first appeared as an option on the VFR1200F in 2009. Testament to its acceptance in the marketplace, since the NT1100s introduction, 66% of customers have chosen the DCT option over the manual. The system delivers consistent, seamless gear changes and very quickly becomes second nature in use. It uses two clutches: one for start-up and 1st, 3rd and 5th gears, the other for 2nd, 4th and 6th, with the main shaft for each clutch located inside the other for compact packaging.

Each clutch is independently controlled by its own electro-hydraulic circuit. When a gear change occurs, the system pre-selects the target gear using the clutch not currently in use. The first clutch is then electronically disengaged as, simultaneously, the second clutch engages.

The result is a consistent, fast and seamless gear change. Furthermore, as the twin clutches transfer drive from one gear to the next with minimal interruption of the drive to the rear wheel, any gear change shock and pitching of the machine is minimised, making the change feel direct as well as smooth. Extra benefits include durability (as the gears cannot be damaged by missing a gear) impossibility of stalling, low stress urban riding, reduced rider fatigue and crucially the ability to concentrate more on riding lines, braking and acceleration points.

The DCT system offers two distinct riding approaches Automatic Transmission (AT), with pre-programmed shift patterns which constantly read vehicle speed, gear selected and engine rpm to decide when a shift should occur, and Manual Transmission (MT), for gear changes using the paddle[1]shift style triggers on the left handlebar.

There are two settings within AT to choose from; D mode offers effortless riding and maximum fuel efficiency. S mode serves up 3 levels of sports-based shifting. Level 1 is the most modest, changing gears in the medium rpm range. Level 3 is the most aggressive and operates at high rpm with Level 2 is the intermediate point between the two. The preferred selection can also be saved.

4. Accessories

There is a range of accessories tailor made ready for the NT1100, including quick shifter with autoblipper function, and aluminium cosmetic panels for the luggage. To make it easy for an owner to get their NT1100 the way they want it, 3 packs are also available (all items can also be purchased separately):

The Urban Pack has been developed to enhance the NT1100 commuter abilities and features:

50L top box with inner bag,

 comfort back rest,

 4.5L tank bag.

The Touring Pack increases the luggage capacity of the NT1100, further strengthening the touring comfort and features:

 Rider/pillion comfort seats,

 comfort pillion foot pegs

 fog lights.

The Voyage Pack is the ultimate accessory pack for the NT1100 and combines both the Urban and Touring Packs and features.

50L top box with inner bag,

 comfort back rest,

 4.5L tank bag,

 rider/pillion comfort seats,

 fog lights.

Other accessories available for the NT1100 include:

** Please note that the figures provided are results obtained by Honda under standardised testing conditions prescribed by WMTC. Tests are conducted on a rolling road using a standard version of the vehicle with only one rider and no additional optional equipment. Actual fuel consumption may vary depending on how you ride, how you maintain your vehicle, weather, road conditions, tire pressure, installation of accessories, cargo, rider and passenger weight, and other factors.

<title>MOT changes 2023: Major update to test and check services adds safety recall warnings</title>
    <link>https://www.bellevuemotors.com/news/mot-changes-2023major-update-to-test-and-check-services-adds-safety-recall-warnings</link>
<description>MOT changes 2023: Major update to test and check services adds safety recall warnings.

Are you a 2nd plus owner of a motorcycle? If so, then you should read this in case your motorcycle has an outstanding manufacturer recall.

A major change to the MOT process means drivers will now be warned of outstanding safety recalls on their cars as part of the annual test.

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), which oversees the test, has secured agreements with several of the biggest motorcycle companies to include real-time recall tracking in MOT results.

The change, which came into effect on 19 July, means that riders will be alerted to any recalls when they receive their motorcycle MOT pass or fail certificate, making it easier to keep track of any outstanding work that is required.

Major vehicle manufacturers including Honda have signed up for the new scheme.

Previously, recall information has been available as part of an MOT status check. However, this has only been offered via the online MOT checker and has been based on monthly information.
The new system sees manufacturers provide live data directly to the DVSAs digital system, allowing Belle Vue Honda Motorcycles to automatically identify motorcycles with outstanding recalls as they are being tested. Our testers will tell riders of any recall notices as well as including the information on the test certificate.

The DVSA says it is actively working to add more brands to the scheme but for those not yet signed up to the DVSA programme, existing SMMT data will continue to be used.
From August, the online MOT checker will also be updated to include the real-time recall information and riders signed up to the MOT reminder text message service will receive notification of any recalls at the same time as their reminder.

Chris Price, DVSAs head of MOT policy, said: This is a huge step forward in bringing recall information direct to motorists. By adding the information to the MOT certificate and our popular digital services we can make it easier for motorists and improve safety recall uptake rates, helping everyone keep Britains road among the safest in the world.

Vehicle safety recalls are fairly common, with manufacturers issuing them as potential problems come to light. In the first half of 2022, almost 400,000 recall notices were issued in Britain, with some vehicles affected by more than one fault.

Manufacturers should contact owners directly to alert them to any recalls but some alerts dont reach the current keeper of the vehicles, meaning the new system is a useful way to alert drivers to any necessary work.

Please contact us here at Belle Vue Honda Motorcycles if your Honda motorcycle has or if you believe it may have an outstanding safety recall. We will always be happy to check for you.

<title>Can your Belle Vue Honda Motorcycle really cover 2600 miles with a single tank of fuel </title>
    <link>https://www.bellevuemotors.com/news/can-your-belle-vue-honda-motorcycle-really-cover-2600-miles-with-a-single-tank-of-fuel-</link>
<description>Of course, there are some important caveats: Acerbis, which produces large-capacity fuel tanks for adventure machines, cheated a bit.

First, it took a Honda MSX125 Grom, already relatively parsimonious on fuel, then the firms engineers designed and built their own massive fuel tank, which extends out forwards, then back under the rider and into a pair of pannier-style side tanks. They provide a capacity of 108 litres (23.75 gallons) of petrol, which weighs around 85kg on its own.

Then, a three-rider team trundled the bike at approximately 45mph from Albino in Italy to the North Cape in Norway, a distance of 2600 miles. That earned the firm its world record: the greatest distance driven on a single tank of fuel by a motorcycle. Guido Acerbis, CEO of Acerbis, is a proud man. As a child, I admired the Guinness World Records book that my grandparents had given me and dreamed of entering it.

The dream has become a reality, thanks to a determined and motivated team. While this record-breaking feat is not something that most riders can replicate on their own bikes, it does showcase the ingenuity and determination of the Acerbis team. It also highlights the advancements in fuel tank design and capacity that can be achieved.

For most riders, the focus is on practicality and convenience when it comes to fuel efficiency. However, it&#039;s always interesting to see what extreme measures can be taken to push the boundaries of what is possible on a motorcycle. And who knows, perhaps this record will inspire other riders to explore new possibilities in long-distance riding with limited fuel.

In the end, while it may not be feasible for the average rider to cover 2600 miles on a single tank of fuel, it&#039;s still a remarkable achievement worth celebrating. It serves as a reminder of the endless possibilities that exist within the world of motorcycles and the passion and dedication of those who push the boundaries of what is possible.

<title>It&#039;s not just about the emissions at the tailpipe of a motorcycle</title>
    <link>https://www.bellevuemotors.com/news/its-not-just-about-the-emissions-at-the-tailpipe-of-a-motorcycle</link>
<description>In December 2021, the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA) published a study in collaboration with Zemo Partnership, an independent non-profit group focused on shaping future transport policy. The study aimed to examine the emissions produced by vehicles across their entire lifetime, taking into account various categories. Surprisingly, the research revealed that both petrol and electric two-wheelers had the lowest total emissions in nearly every category.

However, one particular finding stood out among the rest. The research compared the emissions of a 125cc petrol motorcycle to those of a 40kWh electric car, a 33kWh electric van, and a 1.8-liter petrol hybrid car. Astonishingly, the 125cc petrol motorcycle, which is set to face potential restrictions by 2030, turned out to be the least polluting among the four vehicles.

Let&#039;s delve deeper into the study&#039;s results and explore the implications for both motorcycle enthusiasts and the wider community.

The Honda PCX: A Low Emissions Champion

One of the motorcycles analyzed in the study was the Honda PCX125. This popular model, known for its fuel efficiency and sleek design, was chosen to represent the 125cc petrol motorcycle category. Over the span of three years and an average annual mileage of 6,525 miles (10,500km), the Honda PCX125 was found to emit just under four tonnes of CO2 across its entire lifetime. These findings challenge the prevailing notion that motorcycles are significant contributors to greenhouse gas emissions.

The low emissions of the Honda PCX125 can be attributed to several factors. Firstly, the motorcycle&#039;s efficient engine design allows for optimal fuel consumption, resulting in reduced CO2 emissions. Additionally, the PCX125 incorporates innovative technologies, such as start-stop systems and improved exhaust systems, which further contribute to its low emissions performance. These advancements demonstrate that motorcycle manufacturers have been actively working to address environmental concerns and reduce the ecological footprint of their products.

Considering the Honda PCX125&#039;s impressive environmental credentials, it is crucial for policymakers and regulators to carefully evaluate the potential impact of phasing out such motorcycles. While the study&#039;s findings are based on data that is now a few years old, it is important to acknowledge the progress made in motorcycle technology since then, which could further enhance their environmental performance.

The Importance of ULEZ and Environmental Regulations

As the global focus on environmental sustainability intensifies, cities around the world are implementing measures to reduce air pollution. One such initiative is the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) in London. The ULEZ aims to restrict vehicles with higher emission levels from entering the city center, encouraging the use of low-emission alternatives.

While the ULEZ primarily targets cars and larger vehicles, motorcycles are not exempt from its regulations. However, it is essential to consider the emissions profile of motorcycles in relation to other vehicle types. The aforementioned study highlighted the relatively low emissions of motorcycles, particularly the Honda PCX125, compared to electric cars and hybrid vehicles. As policymakers continue to develop and refine environmental regulations, it is crucial to consider the specific emissions characteristics of different vehicle categories to ensure a fair and effective approach to reducing pollution.

In conclusion, the emissions produced by vehicles extend beyond what is emitted at the tailpipe. The comprehensive study conducted by the MCIA and Zemo Partnership shed light on the lifetime emissions of various vehicles, with petrol and electric two-wheelers emerging as the lowest emitters in most categories. Specifically, the Honda PCX125, a representative of 125cc petrol motorcycles, showcased impressively low emissions across its lifetime. As we navigate the transition towards a greener future, it is crucial to consider the advancements in motorcycle technology and the potential implications of restricting motorcycles prematurely. By understanding the broader environmental impact of vehicles, policymakers can develop regulations that effectively reduce emissions while considering the unique characteristics of different vehicle types. So, the next time you think about emissions, remember that it&#039;s not just about what comes out of the tailpipe of a motorcycle.

<description>The celebrated Transalp name returns to the Honda line-up in a brand new mid-sized adventure package

Hondas first electric model for Europe, the EM1 e: is unveiled, powered by the durable and efficient Honda Mobile Power Pack e:

The new CL500 urban machine mixes retro charm with modern equipment and technology

The Rebel family expands with the introduction of the new CMX1100T Rebel developed for increased long distance comfort and practicality

The Forza 125 and Forza 350 get a new look in line with the range-topping Forza 750

New paint schemes for MSX125 Grom continue raft of new colour updates for 23YM

Having already announced the return of the celebrated Hornet name to its line-up for 23 year model, today at EICMA in Milan, Honda unveiled its full European motorcycle range for the upcoming season.

Highlights include the return of another Honda legend, a totally new urban naked machine, and the unveiling of Hondas first European EV two wheeler.

XL750 Transalp

Headlining the unveiling is the return to the Honda line-up of the evocative Transalp name in the shape of the XL750 Transalp.

Inheriting the spirit of its illustrious predecessor, the XL750 Transalp is designed to be at home anywhere - from the rush hour commute to an extended touring trip, from a dusty trail to an Alpine pass.

This all-round ability is derived from Hondas brand new 755cc parallel twin engine that combines a substantial top end punch with mountains of torque in the low to mid rpm range plus engaging character and sound from its 270 crank and new exhaust. Peak power of 67.5kW arrives at 9,500rpm, peak 75Nm torque at 7,250rpm.

Electronic aids running via Throttle By Wire allow the rider to choose between 5 riding modes to select their preferred combination of Engine Power, Engine Braking and Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) with integrated Wheelie Control.

The new engine is housed in a lightweight steel diamond frame to offer light, nimble, confidence-inspiring handling in any situation. For supple on-road performance and off-road bump absorption the Transalp is equipped with Showa 43mm SFF-CATM USD forks and rear shock operating through Pro-Link. A 21in front wheel paired to a 18in rear delivers versatility both on or off-road.

The Transalps rich specification list is headlined by a 5-inch TFT colour display which vividly supplies all the crucial information and allows management of all systems. Connectivity is available for both Android and iOS devices via the Honda Smartphone Voice Control system. All lighting is LED; the indicators auto-cancel and also include Emergency Stop Signal technology to warn other road users of sudden braking.

Styling for the Transalp has been led by Hondas Rome R&amp;D centre, under the guiding principle of Friendly Toughness. The long-legged stance makes a strong statement of adventurous intent, while the fairing and screen work together to deliver wind protection without bulk. The overall look is sleek, simple and clean.

The Transalp will be available in three striking colours: Matt Iridium Gray Metallic, Matt Ballistic Black Metallic and a modern interpretation of the classic Ross White Tricolour.

EM1 e

Due for release in summer 2023, the EM1 e: is the first Honda EV two wheeler for customers in Europe, and the first model to be unveiled following Hondas announcement of its plans to introduce 10 or more electric motorcycle models globally by 2025. It is a significant first step towards meeting Hondas stated aim of carbon neutrality for all its motorcycle line-up during the 2040s.

The EM stands for Electric Moped, and the model is aimed squarely at a young demographic looking for easy, fun urban transport. It is compact, flat-floored, with a smoothed styling that marks out its difference and unique identity within the Honda range. Perfect for short hops around town and for making journeys to work or college efficient, quiet and emission-free, the EM1 e: syncs neatly with modern expectations for urban mobility.

The EM1 e: is powered by the Honda Mobile Power Pack e:, which is built with a relentless focus on durability, reliability and quality. A single charge will offer a riding range of over 40km, and the Mobile Power Pack (MPP) is designed to withstand different temperatures, humidity levels, impacts and vibrations. As its name suggest, the MPP is a swappable battery that can be easily removed from the EM1 e: for charging in the comfort of home.

CL500

Taking its inspiration from the Honda CLs of the 1960 and1970s, the funky CL500 combines retro charm with modern equipment and technology to create a totally new kind of modern urban naked in Hondas line-up. A strong statement for any young rider looking to stand out from the crowd, it is designed to fit neatly into an owners lifestyle with the ability to handle the daily commute, a long weekend ride, or even some light off-road.

The CL500 uses Hondas hugely popular and energetic A2-friendly 471cc parallel-twin cylinder engine, which produces 35kW of power and 43.3Nm of torque. Unique ECU settings and short final gearing deliver sharp and responsive acceleration from a standstill, all the way up through six-speed gearbox.

The horizontal design line runs from the distinctive round headlight with four LED bulbs, back through the cleanly rounded tank to the upswept exhaust muffler with its classic drilled stainless steel heat shield. Details such as side tank pads, thickly padded seat with embossed Honda logo, small circular LED indicators, high handle bars and rubber fork gaiters come together to create a look that has a fresh kind of charm different to any other Honda machine.

The tubular steel trellis-style frame is both a style statement and foundation of easy handling. Long-travel suspension comprises 41mm telescopic forks and adjustable rear shock while the wheels 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wear block-pattern tyres.

The CL500 comes in four eye-catching colours - Candy Energy Orange, Matt Laurel Green Metallic, Candy Caribbean Blue Sea and Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic, and a range of genuine Honda accessories are available ready for personalisation to an owners preference.

CMX1100T Rebel

As a 21st century bobber the CMX1100 Rebel has a dual personality, with a stripped-back style that speaks volumes with its minimalism. Its been designed for a leisurely laidback cruise, but also turns its hand to an exciting riding experience when a twisty road presents itself, thanks to the performance and character of a 1,084cc parallel twin-cylinder engine tuned for super-strong bottom and mid-range torque.

For 23YM, the family is joined by a dedicated Touring version, the CMX1100T Rebel. The T stands for Touring, and the CMX1100T Rebel is designed to bring extra comfort and practicality for longer days on the open road. The comfort comes from the new bespoke front fairing and screen that offer greatly increased weather protection; the practicality is provided by the new set of top-hinged hard panniers that fit in perfectly with the overall look and offer a full 35 litres of carrying capacity.

The CMX1100T Rebel will be available in a striking Gunmetal Black Metallic paint scheme.

Forza 125 and Forza 350

The Forza name has long been a powerful force in Hondas two-wheeled line-up, offering a premium mix of sporty and GT elements. Both the Forza 350 and Forza 125 boast an extensive standard equipment list including HSTC, electric screen adjustment, USB Type-C socket, underseat storage space for two full-face helmets, full LED lighting and Smart Key operation. The two smaller Forzas were joined in Hondas line-up by the premium luxury Forza 750 for 2020, and the compelling Forza recipe has attracted over 160,000 customers since the arrival of the Forza 125 in 2012.

For 23YM, a brand-new front fairing give both the Forza 350 and 125 an even more elegant and refined identity with styling cues taken directly from the range-topping Forza 750. Led by the new chiselled dual LED headlights, the new front end creates an impression of energetic sportiness and premium desirability. A redesigned instrument panel attractively mixes analogue and digital displays.

A new Forza 125 Special Edition has also been added to the line-up. It features red detailing on the seat stitching, instrument panel surrounds and logos, set on a Matt Cynos Gray Metallic paint scheme. Blacked-out pillion footpegs, stainless-steel floor plates and red wheels complete the look.

MSX125 Grom

Honda has already announced a host of new colours for 23YM that span its range from the SH125 to the GL1800 Gold Wing, touching several points in between, including the Neo Sports Caf range of naked CBs, the X-ADV, CRF1100L Africa Twin and NT1100.

The latest machine to benefit from a new look is the pocket-sized funster, the MSX125 Grom. It gains two new colours for 23YM: Splendid Blue and Matt Dim Gray Metallic, which features unique gold wheels and Big Logo graphics. With its retro-cool style, quick-detach body panels, LCD instrument panel, air-cooled engine and five-speed gearbox, the MSX125 Grom is set to continue its fresh and fun journey across Europe next year.

    <title>23YM HONDA CL500</title>
    <link>https://www.bellevuemotors.com/news/23ym-honda-cl500</link>
<description>Honda has announced the release of their latest motorcycle, the CL500. The bike has been designed with a retro style, taking inspiration from the original CL models from the 60s and 70s. It is powered by Hondas CB500 twin-cylinder engine, which is A2-license compatible.

The CL500 has a tubular diamond-structure steel frame and long-travel suspension, making it suitable for both urban travel and light off-road use. The 19/17-inch front/rear wheel combination also helps with the bike&#039;s handling. The retro styling is rich with details such as rounded fuel tank, knee pads, rubber fork gaiters, and an upswept dual-exit exhaust muffler with drilled heat shield. All lighting is LED, and the dash features a negative LCD display.

Honda has a history of producing smaller capacity bikes that are easy to use, affordable, and distinct. The CL500 draws heavily on the formula of the original CLs, making it an attractive choice for riders around the world. It has the right engine, the right look, and the durability to handle the urban rough and tumble.

The CL500 is designed for customization, allowing owners to make it their own. Honda offers a range of genuine accessories to enhance the bike&#039;s personality, practicality, and style.

The bike is powered by a 471cc parallel twin-cylinder engine that produces 34.3kW of power and 43.4Nm of torque. It has unique ECU settings for CL duty, and short final drive gearing provides smart around-town acceleration. The six-speed gearbox is managed by an assist/slipper clutch.

The tubular steel trellis-style main frame provides a style statement while ensuring easy handling. Long-travel suspension comprises 41mm telescopic forks and an adjustable rear shock, while the block-pattern tyres on the 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels ensure excellent performance on a variety of surfaces, including light off-road.

The CL500 also features ABS modulation for the front and rear brakes, specifically balanced for excellent performance on a variety of surfaces, including light off-road. The instrument panel is a compact negative LCD, and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) technology operates the rear indicators as hazard lights under sudden, hard braking.

Honda has developed the CL500 as a machine that allows its owners to stand out from the crowd and express themselves. It is designed to fit neatly into an owners lifestyle, whether for the daily commute, a long weekend ride, or some light off-road adventures. The development concept used from the start of the CL500 project has been Express Yourself, deliberately targeting a young, style-conscious demographic.

The 23YM CL500 is now available, with the Candy Energy Orange, Mat Laurel Green Metallic, Candy Caribbean Blue Sea, and Mat Gunpowder Black Metallic options.
